Lennys Delicatessen Opens At Harborplace
LENNY’S DELICATESSEN OPENS AT HARBORPLACE
Breakfast All Day, Baltimore’s Best Corned Beef Among Popular Offerings
(BALTIMORE, MD) – April 11, 2011 – Lenny’s Deli, Baltimore’s answer to the famous New York delicatessen, has opened at Harborplace in the Pratt Street Pavilion in Downtown Baltimore.
The 3,100-square-foot delicatessen serves “Baltimore’s Best” corned beef and other
“deli-cacies.” The Lenny’s Deli Harborplace location offers breakfast all day along with a full array of deli meats, fried and baked chicken, wraps, salads and baked goods for dining in, catering and carry out. The deli will also serve draft beer on tap including Yingling, Miller Lite and Blue Moon Ale.
The Harborplace location is the third restaurant for Lenny’s. Owner Alan Smith and his father, Lenny Smith, celebrated the 25th anniversary of Lenny’s in Owings Mills last year. The second location, on Baltimore’s famed corned beef row, opened in 1991. Smith grew up eating corned beef at Jack’s of Lombard Street, and worked there for four years before purchasing the deli and creating Lenny’s in 1985.
“We are excited to open at Harborplace, the city’s top tourist attraction, and to provide a place where tourists and business people can go for a good corned beef sandwich,” says Alan Smith. “We look forward to serving the business community and visitors to Baltimore for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as Orioles and Ravens fans who stop on their way to games.”
Smith deemed it was important to offer breakfast all day. It enables business people a chance to grab breakfast on their way in to work and provides another choice at lunchtime for those who may want a lighter option. Lenny’s will open its doors at 8 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m.
“It is important for Harborplace to offer local food and flavor to the millions of visitors we see annually,” said Senior General Manager Christopher Schardt. “Lenny’s Delicatessen has become a Baltimore institution in its own right. Known for its delicious sandwiches and salads, the deli and will offer patrons breakfast selections throughout the day. We are pleased to have a tenant of high caliber like Lenny’s Deli joining us at Harborplace.”
